Uses :-Ortho Evra Patch (norelgestromin/ethinyl estradiol) is contraceptive skin patch is used to prevent pregnancy. What if patch is no longer sticky, or falls off?
Do not try to re-apply a birth control patch if it is no longer sticky, has been stuck to itself or another surface, has other material stuck to it or has become loose or has fallen off before.
  • For less than 24 hours:- Try to re-apply your patch or apply a new patch immediately. No back-up contraception is needed and your "Patch Change Day" will remain the same.
  • If you are not sure for how long:- Start a new four-week cycle immediately by applying a new patch. You now have a new Day 1 and a new "Patch Change Day". You must use back-up contraception, such as a condom, spermicide or a diaphragm, for the first week of your new cycle because you may become pregnant during this time.
    Re-apply the Patch by following these instructions:

  • If the Ortho Evra Patch does not stick well, remove it and then apply a replacement birth control patch. This patch should be replaced on the original "Patch Change Day."

  • Breast-feeding :- It is not known whether Ortho Evra Patch Medication passes into breast milk. Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast feed should discuss this with their doctor.
  • Children :-Studies on this medicine have been done only in adult patients, and there is no specific information comparing use of Ortho Evra Patch in children with use in other age groups. This medicine should not be used before the start of menstruation.
  • Teenagers :-This medicine may be used for birth control in teenage females and has not been shown to cause different side effects or problems than it does in adults. Some teenagers may need extra information on the importance of taking norelgestromin/ethinyl estradiol exactly as prescribed.
  • Older adults :-There is no specific information comparing use of Ortho Evra Patch in the elderly with use in other age groups.
  • Other medicines :-Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking Ortho Evra Patch, it is especially important that your doctor and pharmacist know if you are taking any of other Medication.
  • Smoking, tobacco :-Smoking may increase the chance of causing serious blood clots, vein, or heart problems.


Side effects woth Ortho Evra :- In clinical trials, the most frequent adverse events leading to discontinuation in 1.0% to 2.4% of women included nausea and/or vomiting, application site reaction, breast symptoms, headache, and emotional lability.
